If you can smell gas, stop
Do not touch any switch, do not use your phone inside, and do not look for the leak. Get everyone outside, turn the gas off at the meter if you can reach it safely, and call the gas emergency line on 1800 GAS LEAK (1800 427 532) before you call anybody else.
