What counts as a plumbing emergency
If any of these are happening, do not wait until business hours. Call us now.
- Burst water pipe spraying or flooding
- Sewage backing up in a shower, floor waste or toilet
- Overflowing toilet or cistern that wont stop
- No water at all in the house
- Hot water leaking from the unit (especially gas)
- Smell of gas indoors (also call SA Gas Networks 1800 GAS LEAK / 1800 427 532)
- Stormwater flooding the property from a blocked downpipe or surface drain
- Water meter spinning when no taps are running (hidden underground burst)
What to do before we arrive
Burst pipe or major leak
Turn off the water at the meter at the front of the property. The meter has a quarter-turn lever or a tap. Turn clockwise until it stops. See our guide on how to turn off water mains in Adelaide for photos.
Hot water unit leaking
Turn off the cold water inlet to the unit (small valve near where the cold pipe enters the tank). Turn off the power at the breaker (electric) or the gas at the appliance isolation valve (gas).
Gas leak suspected
Do not flick switches. Open windows. Get out of the house. Call us from outside. In a serious leak, also call SA Gas Networks emergency on 1800 GAS LEAK (1800 427 532). See our blog on gas leak signs in your home.
Sewage overflow
Stop using all water-using fixtures (do not flush toilets or run taps) until we arrive. Sewage overflow is a health risk – keep children and pets away from the affected area.

How fast do we respond?
For genuine emergencies (water actively flooding, sewage backing up, suspected gas) we are usually on the road within minutes of your call and on most metropolitan Adelaide jobs within an hour, 24/7. We will give you a realistic ETA when you call.
What an emergency call-out costs
After-hours and weekend call-outs do carry a higher rate than business-hours work, which we will quote you when you call so there is no surprise on the invoice. We give a fixed written quote for the actual repair before any work starts.

Emergency plumbing FAQs
Do you really answer the phone at 3am?
Yes. A real person answers 24/7. If we cannot pick up immediately we call back within minutes. For genuine emergencies we are on the road fast.
Will my insurance cover an emergency call-out?
Most home insurance policies cover damage caused by a sudden plumbing failure (flooded floors, ruined carpet, soaked plaster) but not the cost of fixing the plumbing itself. Some emergency call-outs are covered. Always check with your insurer. We supply written reports, photos and itemised invoices for claims.
What if it turns out not to be an emergency?
We tell you on the phone if it can wait until business hours and save you the after-hours rate. We do not push emergency call-outs that are not needed.
How can I prevent emergencies?
Replace flexible braided hoses every 5 years, get hot water units serviced every 2-5 years, hydrojet your main sewer line every 12-24 months if you have mature trees, and call us at the first sign of a problem (slow drain, dripping tap, weak hot water) before it becomes urgent.
Do you handle emergency plumbing in rentals and strata?
Yes. Plumbing emergencies are urgent under SA tenancy law. We work directly with property managers, landlords and strata managers across Adelaide and provide written reports for tenancy and strata records.
